The Best Pumpkin Patches, Fall Activities, and Halloween Fun Around Gig Harbor Area

There is just something about fall in the Pacific Northwest.
The crisp mornings, changing leaves, cozy coffee runs, pumpkin everything, and those beautiful golden afternoons make this one of my favorite times of year in Gig Harbor. And thankfully, you do not have to travel far to enjoy it.
Whether you are looking for the perfect pumpkin patch, a family friendly fall festival, a scenic afternoon outdoors, or just an excuse to get out and enjoy the season, there are plenty of ways to celebrate fall in and around Gig Harbor.
Here are a few of my favorite places to put on your fall bucket list this year.
Harbor Farms Pumpkin Patch
If you want a classic fall day without leaving Gig Harbor, start here.
Harbor Farms offers a full fall farm experience with locally grown pumpkins, a petting zoo, kids' play areas, photo opportunities, and plenty of space to slow down and enjoy the season.
For 2026, the pumpkin patch runs October 3 through October 25 on Saturdays and Sundays. Visits are two hours and require timed reservations, so this is one you will want to plan ahead for.
They also offer pumpkin sales only on October 16 and October 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. with no reservation required.
Perfect for: Families, little kids, pumpkin picking, and those adorable fall photos.
Take a Fall Walk Through Gig Harbor
You do not always need an organized event to enjoy fall around here.
Gig Harbor has more than 200 acres of parks within the city limits and miles of trails, making it easy to enjoy the changing season without going far from home. The Cushman Trail is a great option for an easy walk, while McCormick Forest Park offers a more wooded experience surrounded by towering trees.
McCormick Forest Park is especially beautiful when the leaves begin to change.
For a little waterfront scenery, make your way to Sunrise Beach Park. Bring a warm drink, take a walk along the shoreline, and keep an eye out for wildlife.
Perfect for: A crisp fall morning, a dog walk, family photos, or simply getting outside.
Explore the Gig Harbor Waterfront
Fall is also a wonderful time to wander downtown.
Take a stroll around the historic waterfront, browse the local shops, grab lunch or coffee, and enjoy the harbor without the busy summer crowds. The combination of colorful trees, cool temperatures, and sparkling water makes for a pretty perfect fall afternoon.
Gig Harbor is one of those places where you really can park the car and wander.
And if the weather turns chilly? Even better. Find a cozy spot to warm up and make an afternoon of it.
Visit the Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden
For something a little quieter, head to the Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden at Sehmel Homestead Park.
The garden is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through mid October, and there are seasonal events throughout September. The September 19 Harvest Festivities are a fun opportunity to enjoy fall garden activities and celebrate the bounty of the season.
Perfect for: Garden lovers, adults looking for a slower paced afternoon, and anyone who appreciates a little seasonal inspiration.
Worth the Short Drive
Sometimes the best fall adventures are just outside Gig Harbor.
If you are willing to venture a little farther, there are several South Sound farms that turn fall into a full day of pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hayrides, and farm fun.
Picha Farms in Puyallup
Picha Farms is a great option when you are looking for a traditional pumpkin patch with plenty of activities.
The 2026 season runs October 3 through October 30 and includes a five acre themed corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin picking, a slingshot, and other farm activities. Admission to the farm is free, with individual activities available for an additional cost.
Perfect for: Families who want a full afternoon of fall activities.
Spooner Farms in Puyallup
Another Puyallup Valley favorite, Spooner Farms is known for its large fall harvest experience, pumpkin patch, corn maze, seasonal produce, and plenty of classic farm fun.
If your ideal fall day includes wandering through rows of pumpkins, picking out the perfect one, and coming home with a few seasonal goodies, this is a great one to add to your list.
Perfect for: Pumpkin picking, families, fall food, and making a full day of it.
Maris Farms in Buckley
If you are looking for something a little bigger and a little more adventurous, Maris Farms is worth the drive.
The 2026 Fall Festival runs on select dates from September 26 through October 31 and includes a pumpkin patch, expanded play areas, a light show, and other farm activities. There is also a Haunted Woods experience for those who like their fall festivities on the spooky side.
Perfect for: Families who want an all day fall experience and anyone looking for a little Halloween excitement.
Thomasson Farm in Enumclaw
For the ultimate fall farm day, Thomasson Farm is another South Sound option to consider.
Their 2026 pumpkin season runs September 26 through October 30 and includes pumpkin picking, a corn maze, wagon rides, farm animals, tractor train rides, play areas, photo opportunities, and food options.
It is definitely more of a destination than a quick pumpkin stop, but if you have kids or simply love fall farm experiences, it could make for a memorable day trip.
Do Not Forget Halloween in Gig Harbor
Fall in Gig Harbor does not stop at pumpkins.
As October winds down, there are plenty of opportunities to get into the Halloween spirit around town.
On October 23, PenMet Parks will host its free Monster Mash Bash at the Recreation Center, with trick or treating, vendors, games, and Halloween activities.
Then on October 30, Uptown Gig Harbor will host giant pumpkin carving along with trick or treating from local businesses. And of course, October 31 brings Trick or Treat the Harbor from 3 to 6 p.m.
So grab the costumes, bring the candy bucket, and get ready for a very Gig Harbor Halloween.
Make Your Own Gig Harbor Fall Bucket List
One of my favorite things about living in Gig Harbor is that you really do not have to go far to make a season feel special.
Pick a pumpkin.
Take a walk through the woods.
Grab a coffee and wander the waterfront.
Visit a local farm.
Go to a community festival.
Take the kids to launch pumpkins at the Scarecrow Festival.
Or simply find a cozy spot, watch the leaves change, and enjoy a slower afternoon.
Fall does not have to be complicated. Sometimes the best memories are the simple ones that become traditions year after year.
And that is one of the things I love most about Gig Harbor. There is always something happening, somewhere beautiful to explore, and another reason to love calling this place home.
